Submit Your Sweetest Fixation!

Brain Candy does not provide payment for accepted submissions. Our priority lies in showcasing talent and offering a platform for writers. We sincerely hope you will still consider joining our community. Thank you for your understanding, and we eagerly anticipate your submissions!
We want to hear, see, and experience your hyperfixation! Whether it’s a deep dive into a niche topic, a passion you can’t shake, or a fleeting obsession, we’re here to showcase what makes your brain buzz.
But here's the twist: Keep it sweet and simple. We love creativity, but we believe limits bring out the best in you. Ready for the challenge? Let’s dive in!
How to Submit
Pick Your Flavor (Choose the category that fits your obsession best):
- Writing (Essays, stories, poems, reflections)
- Visual Art (Illustrations, photography, designs, comics)
- Multimedia (Videos, animations, mood boards, presentations)
The Challenge (Keep it Sweet!):
- Word Limit (Writing): Keep your writing under 800 words — enough space to explore, but still concise.
- Visual Limit (Art): Limit yourself to 3 key elements (e.g., 1 character, 1 color, 1 symbol).
- Media Limit (Multimedia): Keep your work to 30 seconds or up to 10 slides — crisp and to the point!
Tell Us About It:
In 1-2 sentences, explain your hyperfixation. Why does it matter to you? What makes it special?
Additional Details
- Multiple Submissions: You can submit multiple works, but there’s a limit of two submissions per category (e.g., two writings, two pieces of art).
- Get Creative with Your Layout: If accepted, you’ll have the opportunity to submit an idea of what you want your page to look like! Think colors, fonts, and general vibe — let us know how you want your work to shine.
- Sensitive Content: We’re open to all kinds of fixations, including more sensitive topics. However, all sensitive material will be reviewed first, and we’ll include appropriate content warnings at the beginning of the magazine if necessary.
Submission Guidelines
- Original Content Only: Please submit your own work. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
- File Formats:
- Writing: .doc, .pdf
- Art: .jpg, .png, .gif
- Multimedia: .mp4, .mov, or link to platforms like YouTube/Vimeo
- Naming Your File: Please use the format "YourName_TitleOfWork" (e.g., JaneDoe_HyperfixationPoem).
Why the Limits?
We believe that a little bit of structure can push you to focus on what’s most important. Think of it like your favorite candy: you don’t need the whole bag, just the best piece. Less is more, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with!
How We’ll Use Your Work
- Featured in the Magazine: Selected works will be showcased in both digital and/or print formats.
- Social Media: We’ll feature some submissions on our social media pages, so be sure to follow along!
- Hall of Fame: A few standout submissions will be highlighted in our “Candy Jar” feature.

A Few Notes About Sensitive Content
We believe all fixations are welcome, but we also respect our community’s well-being. Submissions with sensitive themes (mental health, trauma, etc.) will be reviewed first. If accepted, we will add content warnings at the beginning of the magazine to ensure readers are prepared.
